Welcome to Edmonton Ringette Active Start!

There will be 2 Co-Directors for Edmonton Ringette Active Start 2021/22 season, Lisa Milan and Tanya Ames.   Lisa will primarily work with the first year/younger Active Start players and Tanya with the returning/older Active Start players.  Both of us have been involved in the sport of ringette for many years as athletes and coaches and we are excited to have the opportunity to work with young players starting out in the sport.  

Active Start (for ages 4 - 7) is the introductory program for ringette, and feeds into the U10 program (for ages 7 - 9).  Here is an idea of where to register your daughter based both on skill and birth year.                                             

Active Start                         birth year 2015 and 2016

                                                *** also children born in 2014 that are new skaters and 2017 depending on maturity level, if player has completed a CanSkate program, and is able to move around on the ice independently

 

U10 Step 1                          birth year 2013 (new to the sport) and 2014

 U10 Step 2                         Dependent on evaluations and other factors

 U10 Step 3                         Dependant on evaluations and other factors.

While age is one factor in determining the appropriate category for Active Start and U10 participants, we also consider skating ability, size and developmental age, whether a child is new to the sport, etc.  If you have questions about where to register your child, please email us at activestart@edmontonringette.com and we will assist you with where to register.

Active Start is one to two hours per week (ice times are not confirmed yet - times or locations), concentrating on developing skating, basic ring skills, introducing some of the rules of ringette, and having fun on the ice! 

We will work towards playing cross ice 3 on 3 scrimmages, as the year progresses, and we may participate in Jamboree(s) with Active Start teams from other communities. 

The registration fee for Active Start is $175.   

All active start families are required to participate in 1 volunteer shift during the ringette season (eg. Oil Kings 50/50, Casino, working at tournament etc.).  A $200 volunteer deposit cheque (postdated for April 2022) will be collected from each family at the start of season which will be destroyed when you complete your volunteer shift.
