Welcome to the 2019 - 2020 U10 Edmonton Ringette Season!

Aug. 27 - 2019

Welcome to the 2019 - 2020 U10 Edmonton Ringette Season!

Your U10 Co-Directors for this season are Rachel Batchelor and Allison Anderson.  They are your main contact throughout the year if you have any questions that your coach/team manager can't answer.  You can reach them by email at u10@edmontonringette.com .

What to Expect This Year

The U10 division is divided into 3 levels - Step 1, Step 2 & Step 3. We place the players within the appropriate level based on an evaluation process following the Ringette Alberta Universal Assessment Book. This process is conducted at the beginning of the season in September, and comprises both timed skating drills and game play. These guidelines can be found on the Alberta Ringette website.

While chronological age (birth year) is a factor used to determine which Step an athlete would be placed in (i.e. Step 1 - 2012, Step 2- 2011, Step 3 - 2010), this is not the sole factor in determining proper placement of our athletes. Developmental age, Step/Division played in previous season(s), years of experience, and UAA (universal athlete assessment) scores are other factors taken into consideration for placing our athletes into proper steps. The purpose of the step program in the U10 category is to place athletes in the proper level where they can have a better chance to develop their skills and achieve success while playing the game of ringette.

The registration fee for all U10 players is $675 as the early bird fee deadline has now passed. Please feel free to contact Shannon Langstrom at admin@edmontonringette.com with any questions about registration.

The U10 season will start the second weekend of September with our conditioning/evaluation skates, and continue the following weekend.  By the end of the third week of September, players will be placed on Step appropriate teams. In October, all teams at each Step will start playing scheduled games within the Black Gold League with league play ending in late February/beginning of March. Games are not only played in local Edmonton arenas but in surrounding communities as well. Games may be played both on weekdays and weekends. Our U10 teams practice times/days will vary throughout the season - practices are not at a fixed time/day throughout the season. Your coaches/managers will notify parents/players of the game/practice schedules throughout the season.

Evaluation Schedule

The evaluation schedule for U10 has been posted on the website.  PLEASE NOTE: this schedule is "SUBJECT TO CHANGE" so please check the website often and also note that all players will not necessarily be scheduled to attend all the skates.  Rachel and Allison will be in contact with all families to inform of exact times their player is scheduled prior to September 7, 2019.

Volunteers Needed

Please consider stepping up to volunteer to coach, especially if you have previous ringette experience (but this is not mandatory). We require enthusiastic individuals to both assist and head coach. You can find the coaches application form on the Edmonton Ringette website.

In addition to volunteering for coaching, we will require volunteers to help out with the prep-skates and UAA skills testing, to help out both on the ice and the bench for the game play/skills evaluations, to work the registration table for the evaluation skates, running the clock for scrimmages, and other duties.  If you would like to help out in the process, please email us with the session times you are available and we will coordinate the list of volunteers.
