Welcome to Edmonton Ringette Active Start!

Active Start (for ages 4 - 7) is the introductory program for ringette, and feeds into the U10 program (for ages 7 - 9).  Register your athlete born in the following birth years for Active Start:                                            

  • Birth years 2018 and 2019
  • Additionally, athletes born in 2020 with some previous skating experience.

The Active Start program will provide 1-2 ice times per week. It is an introduction to ringette, with a primary focus to skating, ring handling, passing, checking, shooting, small area games. The emphasis of the program is on active involvement, participation, and FUN. The cost for the Full 2024-25 season (October-March) is $150.00 plus the Ringette Alberta fee of $88.50. REGISTER HERE!

Players will be introduced to the concept of informal games in a 1/2 or cross-ice format. There will be no scorekeeping.  Players will be able to participate in the Silver Ring tournament at the Active Start level in January 2025.

 Active Start - Full season

The season will run from October 2024 to mid-March 2025 (approx. 20 weeks).

Active Start ice times for the season will be as follows:

Saturdays:

3:30-4:30 PM Kinsmen Twin Arenas, 1979 111 St. NW, Edmonton, AB T6J7C6

Thursdays (every second week):

6:00 - 7:00 PM The Meadows Rec Centre, 2704 17 St NW, Edmonton, AB T6T 0X1

 

Each player will be provided with a jersey for them to keep.  

Finally, volunteers are a big part of what makes a successful ringette team. We are always looking for coaches and assistant coaches to help out, especially at this level.  If you are interested in helping out, please contact our Coaching Director Tim Mullen at coaching@edmontonringette.com.

We are also looking for an Active Start Director for the 2024-25 season.  Contact Karen Garlitos at admin2@edmontonringette.com if you are interested. Here are the highlights of the volunteer board position:

  • Administering the ringette program for the specific age category (as determined by Ringette Alberta) allocated to them.
  • Act as the coordinator of the age division to arrange all required activities.
  • Act as the representative and coordinator of their division for the Silver Ring tournament, or any other tournament, jamboree etc. that EFCLRA  sponsors/hosts.
  • Act as a liaison between EFCLRA and the coaches, players & parents within the division they are responsible for.
  • Act in good faith, with the focus of all actions or decisions to benefit EFCLRA.
  • Hold a voting position on the Board of Directors. Where there are more than one person holding the role (sharing), there will only be one vote cast per division.
  • Attend monthly Board meetings (9-10 per year). If not able to attend, send an update to the Internal Director for that month.
  • Worth 6 volunteer credits.
