Fall/Winter Powerskating Program (2026/27)

Edmonton Ringette is proud to partner with Mel Thomas Performance and Millar Powerskating to deliver a high-quality powerskating development program for the 2026/27 season.

Sharpen your stride and elevate your game with high-tempo, individual-focused sessions designed to improve speed, edge control, agility, balance, and skating efficiency. These sessions help athletes build confidence and develop strong skating fundamentals all season long.


1. Mel Thomas Performance Program Details

  • Location: Crestwood Arena
  • Dates: Biweekly from September 22 to February 16
  • Total Sessions: 11
  • Instructor: Mel Thomas Performance
  • Minimum Enrollment: 13 skaters per group

Program Fees

  • Cost: $550 per player
  • Includes all 11 on-ice sessions

Program Groups

🔹 2016-2019 Birth Years

  • Time: 5:15 PM - 6:15 PM
  • Eligibility: EFCLRA athletes born 2016-2019

🔹 2012-2015 Birth Years

  • Time: 6:30 PM - 7:30 PM
  • Eligibility: EFCLRA athletes born 2012-2015

2. Millar Power Skating - Breakfast Skates

Location: Booster Juice Terwillegar Arena D, 2051 Leger Rd, Edmonton
Dates: Weekly from September 23 to February 17
Total Sessions: 18
Instructor: Millar Powerskating
Minimum Enrollment: 13 skaters
Maximum Enrollment: 16 skaters


 

Program Fees

Cost: $750 per player
Includes all 18 on-ice sessions

Program Overview

Millar Powerskating's ringette-focused training program is designed to develop speed, agility, balance, edge control, and overall skating efficiency. Athletes will work on acceleration, quick turns, and powerful skating mechanics to build confidence and enhance on-ice performance throughout the season.

The breakfast skate format allows players to complete their skill development before school, helping free up valuable evening time for practices, games, and family activities.


Development Focus for all Power Skating Programs

Players in all groups will work on:

  • Skating stride mechanics and power
  • Edge control and agility
  • Balance and body positioning
  • Speed development and efficiency
  • Confidence and overall on-ice performance

Registration Information

  • Open exclusively to in the specified birth years
  • Registrations that do not meet eligibility requirements will be cancelled and refunded (less a $50 admin fee)

Important Notes

  • Please register in the correct age group
  • If a group is full, join the waitlist (do not register in another group)
  • Participants may be reassigned to a different group to better match skill level (with prior approval)
  • Each group requires minimum enrollment; if not met, the program will be cancelled and fully refunded

Skating is the foundation of ringette performance. Focused powerskating sessions allow athletes to refine technique, increase speed, and maximize their effectiveness in game situations.
