Edmonton Ringette is moving toward an in-house format for U10 Step 1 and Step 2 teams starting with the 2025/26 season. Instead of joining the regional Black Gold League, the format now features a four-week rotational cycle comprising three weeks of focused practice and one week of a jamboree-style games weekend.
Key Benefits:
Focused Skill Development: More practice time dedicated to teamwork and foundational skills.
Predictable Scheduling: A consistent four-week rotation makes it easier for families to plan.
Less Travel: Games remain within the Greater Edmonton area, reducing logistical challenges.
Full-Ice Play for Step 2: After Christmas, Step 2 transitions to full-ice games, enhancing game awareness and strategic play.
Referee Development Opportunity: Jamboree games offer real-game refs involvement, giving “First Stripes” officials a valuable on-ice learning experience.
Teams can still participate in external tournaments and are slated to join the January Silver Ring Jamboree (Jan 16-18, 2026).
